Undergraduate Awards

16-week summer fellowships in Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience: deadline February 17, 2012.

Undergraduate Summer Training: The Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience network is recruiting undergraduates from within and outside Canada to participate in a 16-week research training experience in Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience. Applicants who are currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program in an NSERC-related field (natural science and engineering) are eligible to apply. Please note that medical residents and students holding NSERC, CIHR, or SSHRC fellowships for the same time period are not eligible to apply. The CAN-Encounter research experience is a 16-week, full-time research fellowship, which will start in May 2012. Students accepted in the program will receive a $4,500 stipend from the Create grant to cover the full 16-week period. In addition, supervisors provide $1125 per student from their individual grants toward the stipend. A one-time relocation allowance of up to $600 will be available for those who incur initial travel costs. Undergraduate trainees will also receive a travel allowance to attend a summer workshop in ACN research, at which they will present a progress report. ACN summer traineeships are open to citizens of all countries; all other NSERC eligibility rules for Undergraduate Research Awards, available at http://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/Students-Etudiants/UG-PC/USRA-BRPC_eng.asp, apply to ACN applicants.  Former awardees are only eligible to re-apply with a new supervisor AND a new project.

Instructions to applicants: Please carefully examine the research interests of the research members in this network who can serve as supervisors. Detailed descriptions of the research opportunities can be found at the websites of Potential Supervisors listed on the Mentors page. We strongly recommend that applicants first contact the prospective supervisors via email to determine whether they are accepting undergraduate students for summer 2012 in the Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience Training grant. Applicants' research proposals should reflect the themes of the ACN training grant, described on this website. Due to the limited number of awards, only one application per applicant will be considered. Please complete the application form below, obtain all required signatures, and email the completed form to the email address listed on the form:
